Lassi is a yogurt based drink very popular in the Indian subcontinent. It is made by blending yogurt with other spices. There is also a sweet lassi. Another version of it is Chaas, which is very popular in Gujarat and Rajasthan. It is best when served chilled in hot weather.
Ingredients
- 1 cup yogurt or curd
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 inch grated ginger
- 1/2 a green chilli optional
- 1 tablespoon of coriander leaves
- A few curry leaves
- Salt to taste
Method
- Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend well. Serve chilled.
You can also use 2 cups of buttermilk instead of curd and water. Buttermilk is made by churning curd and adding some water to it. When you churn the fat or butter settles on top which you remove. What is left is the buttermilk, which can be used to make this drink.
